Job summary

Blackhawk Network is hiring a Junior Software Engineer to help build high-volume, scalable transaction processing systems. You’ll work with Java, NodeJS, VueJS, APIs, SQL and cloud technologies in an Agile environment.

The role focuses on delivering reliable software components, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to security and quality practices while supporting rapid growth in the UK market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar field.
• Hands-on professional experience with object-oriented and functional software engineering using NodeJS and related technologies.
• Experience in creating, maintaining and integrating APIs.
• Experience working on back-end services (Rest Web services, middleware).
• Experience working with Relational Database – SQL and cloud environments (AWS).
• Familiarity with microservice architectures and Scrum framework.

Responsibilities

• Perform all phases of software engineering including design, development, testing, and deployment in an Agile environment.
• Own end-to-end development on the component/feature.
• Design and develop new features using Java, NodeJS, JavaScript and SQL with back-end systems.
• Collaborate with other teams and research new technologies for product development.
• Participate in code reviews, analyse results, and choose the best solution.
• Manage deadlines and prioritise tasks.
• Improve software quality and performance; work with QA to ensure deliverables.
• Troubleshoot customer issues and communicate with stakeholders.
