Job summary

Blackhawk Network is hiring a Software Engineer to help deliver a high-volume, fault-tolerant transaction processing system. You will work across Java, NodeJS, VueJS, REST APIs and SQL, building scalable backend components and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, agile practices, and hands-on experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS. Hybrid work arrangement with UK-focused teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar field of study.
• Hands-on professional experience with OO and functional software engineering.
• Experience creating, maintaining and integrating APIs.
• Experience with back-end services (REST, middleware).
• Relational database design and SQL experience.
• Experience in a cloud environment, preferably AWS.
• Familiar with Microservices and REST services.
• Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Deliver software across design, development, testing and deployment in Agile environments.
• Own end-to-end development on components/features.
• Design and develop features using Java, NodeJS, JavaScript and SQL.
• Collaborate with teams and research new technologies for product development.
• Participate in code reviews and select best solutions.
• Manage deadlines and prioritize tasks.
• Improve software quality and performance.
• Work with QA to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Contribute to security analysis and remediation.
• Troubleshoot issues and communicate with stakeholders.
• Work independently yet thrive in a team.
