Job summary

Abound in London is seeking aJunior Software Engineer to join our engineering team. This hybrid role requires three days per week in the London office, ideal for early-career engineers who want to work on real production systems and learn how a fast-growing fintech operates.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers, contribute to backend services in Python/Java, and build frontend work in React. We value curiosity, ownership, and a drive to improve the customer experience while growing

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of Java and Python—you’re comfortable writing and debugging code in both.
• Hands-on experience building frontend interfaces with React.
• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain features in our backend services, spanning the lending lifecycle.
• Take part in the full software development lifecycle: designs, tests, reviews and deployments.
• Write clean, well-tested code in Python and Java with guidance from senior engineers.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and internal users to translate requirements into software.
• Help troubleshoot system issues as part of a team rota during business hours.
• Write and improve SQL queries against our Postgres databases.
• Gradually take ownership of parts of the platform as experience grows.
• Build and improve frontend features in React and grow full-stack skills.
