We are looking for a highly motivated nurse who is committed to delivering high quality patient care and willing to extend their knowledge and skills, to fill the role of a Junior Sister / Junior Charge Nurse in our friendly team within the Imaging and Interventional Radiology Department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
Interventional Radiology is a field that requires dynamic, multi skilled individuals who enjoy variety in their work. We provide comprehensive orientation; training and development in a friendly team environment which values nursing staff. Our supportive nursing team offers a unique combination of technical and high dependency nursing skills. The role is in Interventional Radiology but also provides opportunities to work across all imaging modalities including Hybrid (Interventional and Surgical) Theatres; CT, Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy. There will also be opportunities to work in our partnered modality Neurological Interventional Radiology.
The unit is open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm. You will be required to work flexibly between these times, doing 37.5 hours per week. This senior nursing position includes a variety of non-clinical duties such as education and training; mentoring; pre-assessments; being involved in audits; quality assurance and service improvement discussions and appraisals, to list just a few. This makes the role both rewarding and interesting.
Responsible for the development, planning and co-ordination of specialist treatment within the department
Assess inpatients and outpatients, plan, implement and manage care.
Carry out specialist nursing procedures with Radiology specialists.
Monitor patients throughout procedures and during aftercare.
Provide specialist advice to patients and carers.
Undertake research and lead clinical audits in specialist area.
May be required to supervise a team of nursing and support staff.
Training of new and junior staff.
