Job summary

Brearley & Co in Barnsley is seeking a Junior Accountant/Semi-Senior to join our team. You will gain exposure across statutory accounts, personal and corporate tax, and VAT within a supportive environment.

We offer a training mentor and funding beyond AAT for ACCA studies, plus flexible working and a salary up to £25,000 with 20 days holiday and Christmas closure.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years' experience in the accountancy profession, with exposure to accounts preparation for manager review.
• AAT Level 2/3 preferred; other candidates with suitable experience are encouraged.
• Training mentor provided to support day-to-day accounting activities and ACCA progression.

The Role

Brearley & Co are a leading independent firm of accountants, established for over 30 years, with offices in Swinton, Doncaster, Dinnington and Barnsley.

We have a newly created position for a Junior Accountant/Semi-Senior to join our Barnsley office.

Due to the highly varied client base, the successful candidate will gain extensive exposure across all areas of accounting while working within a highly supportive environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Working within a highly supported environment, the successful candidate will gain experience within:

• Preparation of Statutory accounts for Manager/Partner review
• Preparation of Personal Tax returns
• Preparation of VAT returns
• Preparation of Corporate Tax Returns
• Develop experience in the use of cloud accounting product

Skills and Qualities

Applicants must have developed between 1 and 2 year’s experience working within the accountancy profession and will have developed experience for the preparation of accounts manager review stage.

We are ideally looking for an AAT level 2/3 applicant, applications from individuals who have developed suitable experience from within the accountancy profession but have decided not to pursue formal studies are also highly encouraged.

The business will provide a training mentor to help with your career development in day-to-day accounting activities. There is also funding beyond the completion of AAT for further ACCA studies.
