XACT Placements Ltd. is assisting a growing MSP in Hertfordshire to recruit a Junior Network Engineer. This office-based role includes regular client site visits, a UK salary of £28,000–£35,000, and funded certifications.

You’ll join a close-knit technical team that supports and maintains customer networks using Cisco and Aruba gear. You’ll gain hands-on experience from day one, with mentoring from senior engineers and a clear path from junior to network engineer.

Responsibilities

• Support, configure and troubleshoot customer networks (Cisco/Aruba).
• Work with switching, routing, wireless and VLANs in live environments.
• Assist with network installations, upgrades and refresh projects.
• Visit customer sites to rack, stack, patch and commission equipment.
• Respond to and resolve support tickets; escalate when needed.
• Document network designs, changes and fixes.

Junior Network Engineer

We’re working with a growing network and security Managed Service Provider (MSP) in Hertfordshire. They’re looking for a Junior Network Engineer who wants to learn, gets curious about how things connect, and wants a real career rather than just a job.

You’ll be part of a close-knit technical team that supports, installs and maintains networks for a varied mix of customers. You’ll get hands‑on exposure from day one, along with senior engineers who will invest time in developing you.

What you’ll be doing

• Supporting, configuring and troubleshooting customer networks, mainly on Cisco and Aruba kit
• Working with switching, routing, wireless and VLANs in live environments
• Helping deliver network installations, upgrades and refresh projects
• Visiting customer sites to rack, stack, patch and commission equipment
• Responding to and resolving support tickets, and escalating when needed
• Documenting network designs, changes and fixes

What you’ll learn

• Enterprise switching and wireless across Cisco and Aruba. Full cross-training on Aruba is provided, so prior experience isn’t needed.
• How an MSP works and how to look after multiple customer environments
• Project delivery, from planning through to go-live

What we’re looking for

• Some exposure to networking, whether from a 1st/2nd line role, an apprenticeship, a home lab, or study towards CCNA or similar
• An understanding of core networking concepts: TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, DHCP and DNS
• Cisco experience is a plus. Aruba experience is a bonus but not essential.
• A hunger to learn and the drive to work towards certifications
• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with customers
• A full UK driving licence (essential), as the role includes regular client site visits
