Job summary

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Junior Design and Manufacturing Engineer to join Clinical Engineering Innovation. The role focuses on developing medical devices and assistive technologies, combining hands-on engineering with design and manufacturing to prototype, modify and test solutions for patients and clinical teams.

The successful candidate will prepare a 10-minute presentation on a previously designed item and may bring it to interview.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc in an engineering discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
• Membership of relevant professional institute
• Registration as a Clinical Technologist

Responsibilities

• Provide practical engineering support across the design, development and manufacture of medical devices and healthcare technologies.
• Use CAD, prototyping, additive and conventional manufacturing, assembly and testing to develop and modify devices, from initial requirements to manufacture and evaluation.
• Work closely with patients, clinicians and other healthcare scientists to understand user needs and develop safe, practical solutions.
