Job description

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Junior Mechanical Engineer on behalf of an international company specializing in water and wastewater treatment plants. With over 125 years of experience, they design and manufacture water treatment systems, including screw pumps, aerators, fine screens, and screw turbines. They have a global presence with their UK office based in Rochdale, serving clients such as water authorities and tier 1 contractors.

The successful candidate will be a motivated and ambitious Mechanical Engineer responsible for technical aspects of various projects. You will receive support from an experienced team to develop your skills and product knowledge.

Location & Working Conditions

The role is based at their Rochdale office (Monday to Friday). Site visits are required, which are pre-planned and may involve overnight stays. Visits may include entering confined spaces on wastewater sites (training provided).

Position Details

This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours/week) with a salary of £28,000 – £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a 10% pension contribution, medical insurance, and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Design and procure mechanical components such as bearing assemblies, guarding, and lubrication systems.
• Prepare drawings for layouts and equipment lifting.
• Conduct technical assessments of screw pump bearings and compile reports.
• Arrange quotes for refurbishment and repair.
• Organize and order parts for projects.

Skills & Attributes

• Qualification in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering at apprenticeship, HNC/D, or graduate level.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar drawing software.
• Ability to improve processes and collaborate effectively.
• Excellent communication skills with clients and suppliers.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
