Job summary

ALTEN is looking for a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to support an aerospace manufacturing programme. This hands-on role focuses on the shop floor, working with production teams and operators to resolve technical and manufacturing queries and to train staff in the MES system.

A key part of the role is supporting and training shop-floor employees in MES usage, ensuring manufacturing processes and digital work instructions are followed. On-site site: Broughton, fully onsite.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or shop-floor environments is essential.
• Able to support and train operators in manufacturing processes and MES usage.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day engineering support on the manufacturing shop floor.
• Respond to and help resolve technical queries from production teams.
• Support manufacturing activities and investigate production issues.
• Guide operators on engineering and manufacturing processes.

• Identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.
• Escalate complex issues to appropriate engineering teams.

Job Description

ALTEN is looking for a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to support an exciting aerospace manufacturing programme.

This is a hands-on, shop-floor focused position where you will work closely with production teams and operators, providing day-to-day engineering support and helping to resolve technical and manufacturing queries.

A key part of the role will also involve supporting and training shop-floor employees in the use of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), helping ensure manufacturing processes and digital work instructions are followed correctly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day engineering support on the manufacturing shop floor.
• Respond to and help resolve technical queries from production teams.
• Support manufacturing activities and investigate production issues.
• Provide guidance to operators on engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Support and train shop-floor employees in the effective use of the MES platform.
• Help ensure manufacturing information and digital work instructions are correctly understood and followed.
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Production, Quality and Engineering teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes and ways of working.
• Escalate more complex technical issues to the appropriate engineering teams.
• Support continuous improvement activities across the production environment.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Experience working within a manufacturing, production or shop-floor environment.
• Good understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
• Comfortable providing hands-on support to shop-floor operators.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand and communicate technical information and work instructions.
• Comfortable using digital manufacturing systems and learning new software.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, orequivalentmilitary experience.
• Previous experience within aerospace manufacturing.
• Exposure to MES / Manufacturing Execution Systems.
• Experience supporting or training production operators.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement.
• Experience dealing with manufacturing technical queries.
