Job summary

The Portfolio Group in Manchester is seeking a Junior Management Accountant to join our finance team. You will help ensure accurate monthly reporting, support budgeting and forecasting, and contribute to analysis across the business.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Assist with budgets and forecasts alongside senior finance team members.
• Complete monthly reconciliations, including nominal and intercompany accounts.
• Prepare accruals, prepayments and fixed asset schedules.
• Process month-end journals.
• Assist with VAT and regulatory returns.
• Review ledger processing and maintain accuracy of financial records.
• Produce cost analysis and contribute to financial commentary.
• Prepare and maintain rolling cash-flow forecasts.
• Handle large datasets and present findings clearly.
• Provide general finance support and assist with ad-hoc projects.

Junior Management Accountant

Based in Manchester
Paying up to 30k DOE
5 days on site, Monday - Friday

Working closely with the wider finance team, you'll play an important role in ensuring accurate financial information is produced on time, while also supporting the business with analysis and reporting.

The Role

You'll have a varied workload and will work across different areas of the finance function depending on business requirements and your own development. You'll be involved in the month-end process, financial reconciliations and reporting, as well as providing support with budgeting and forecasting.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Assisting with budgets and forecasts alongside senior members of the finance team
• Completing monthly reconciliations, including nominal and intercompany accounts
• Preparing accruals, prepayments and fixed asset schedules
• Processing month-end journals
• Assisting with VAT and other regulatory returns
• Reviewing ledger processing and helping to maintain the accuracy of financial records
• Producing cost analysis and supporting financial commentary
• Preparing and maintaining rolling cash-flow forecasts
• Working with large volumes of financial data and presenting findings clearly
• Providing general finance support and assisting with ad-hoc projects as required

About You

You'll be someone who takes pride in producing accurate work and is comfortable working to deadlines. You'll have a good eye for detail, a practical approach to problem-solving and the confidence to take ownership of your workload.
