Job summary

Capgemini in Sheffield is seeking a motivated Junior Software Engineer to help build scalable backend systems in a regulated banking environment. You will contribute to modern cloud-native applications that support payments platforms, collaborating with experienced engineers in an agile, collaborative setup.

Qualifications

Basic to hands-on experience with Java development.
Familiarity with Spring / Spring Boot framework.
Understanding of microservices architecture and REST APIs.
Exposure to Docker or containerization concepts.
Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
Strong willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Good problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
Build and support microservices-based architectures.
Develop and consume RESTful APIs.
Work with containerized applications using Docker.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and product teams.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities.
Support applications in a regulated banking/payments environment.
Continuously learn and adopt modern engineering best practices.
