Job summary

A leading global financial services client seeks a Senior Java Developer to join a large-scale enterprise technology programme in the UK. You will lead backend development, shape architectural decisions and drive engineering excellence across modern Java microservices environments.

Expect responsibilities include delivering enterprise-scale backend systems, mentoring teams, and ensuring robust performance, security and scalability across cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Java backend development experience.
• Advanced expertise in Java, Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience with Oracle, SQL/NoSQL databases and data modelling.
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ or other event-driven messaging technologies.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git and DevOps practices.
• Experience with JUnit, automated testing and code review processes.
• Experience with Spring Batch and Spring Integration.
• Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP cloud platforms.
• Experience with Unix/Linux and shell scripting.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor developers and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Strong understanding of backend security, performance tuning and monitoring.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
