Job summary

AddSecure in Theale, near Reading, is seeking a Junior Software Developer to join a growing IoT security team. You’ll work with C and Python on embedded systems, test protocols against alarm panels and cloud services, and learn through hands‑on projects.

The role is hybrid with three days in the office. We value curiosity, problem‑solving and practical Linux/networking knowledge, with opportunities to contribute to open‑source style projects and advanced communications features as you grow.

Qualifications

• Curious, analytical and motivated to understand how things work.
• Recent graduate or with some commercial experience.
• Ability to demonstrate programming through personal projects or open‑source contributions.
• Good practical understanding of Linux and working from the command line.
• Some practical networking knowledge (IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP, routing, firewall).
• Comfortable using Git for software development.

Responsibilities

• Test communications protocols against alarm panels and cloud services.
• Investigate problems, reason about failures and verify performance.
• Develop tools and tests to help verify product performance.
• As experience grows, implement new communications protocols and features in C and Python.
• Contribute in a hands‑on software engineering environment and learn from results.
