Conrad Consulting Ltd is assisting a well-established architectural practice in Leeds City Centre to appoint a Junior or Intermediate Architectural Technologist. The studio offers a supportive, collaborative environment with mentoring, development opportunities and a balanced approach to work-life harmony.
You will support technical design across multiple RIBA stages, produce Revit drawings and documentation, and grow toward higher responsibility.
A well-established, award-winning architectural practice is looking to appoint a Junior or Intermediate Architectural Technologist to join its friendly and collaborative Leeds City Centre studio.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Architectural Technologist who has gained some initial experience within a UK architectural practice and is now looking for the right environment to develop their technical skills, broaden their project exposure and take the next step in their career.
With more than 60 employees across five UK offices, the practice has developed an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality architecture across a diverse range of sectors. Just as importantly, it has created a supportive, inclusive and flexible working culture where people are encouraged to develop their careers without sacrificing work-life balance.
The practice is a proud holder of Investors in People (IIP) Gold accreditation, reflecting its genuine commitment to employee development, wellbeing and creating a positive place to work.
As a Junior or Intermediate Architectural Technologist, you will work alongside experienced Architects, Architectural Technologists and senior members of the practice, supporting the technical design and delivery of projects across multiple RIBA stages.
This is very much a development opportunity rather than a position where you will be expected to arrive with all the answers.
You will receive guidance, mentoring and exposure to a broad range of projects, allowing you to strengthen your technical knowledge, develop your confidence and gradually take on greater responsibility.
Depending on your existing experience, you will have opportunities to become involved in the preparation of detailed technical information, construction packages, consultant coordination and projects progressing through to site.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the technical design and delivery of architectural projects across multiple RIBA stages
Producing accurate architectural drawings, Revit models and technical documentation
Assisting with the preparation of planning, tender and construction information
Developing detailed construction drawings, schedules and technical packages
Working alongside experienced Architects and Technologists to develop practical and buildable design solutions
Assisting with the coordination of architectural information with structural engineers, MEP consultants and other specialists
Developing your understanding of UK Building Regulations, construction methods and relevant technical standards
Supporting the preparation and coordination of information required for Building Regulations approval
Attending design team, consultant and site meetings as your experience develops
Assisting with the identification and resolution of technical and coordination issues
Developing an understanding of project programmes, deadlines and deliverables
Gaining exposure to projects progressing through the construction stages
Taking increasing ownership of drawing packages and technical responsibilities as your confidence grows
Contributing positively to the wider studio and its collaborative working environment
This opportunity would suit an enthusiastic Architectural Technologist who is relatively early in their career and looking to build on their existing experience within a progressive and supportive architectural practice.
You might be a recent Architectural Technology graduate with some practical experience, or an Intermediate Technologist with a few years under your belt who is looking for greater project exposure, technical development and long-term career progression.
Importantly, the practice is not expecting a fully accomplished job-running Technologist. The emphasis is on finding someone with a good technical foundation, the right attitude and a genuine willingness to learn.
Ideally, you will bring:
A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology or a related discipline
Typically 1-5 years' experience working within a UK architectural practice, although applications from candidates outside this range will be considered
Some experience producing architectural drawings and technical information
A working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, with a willingness to continue developing your proficiency
An understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction detailing
Exposure to projects across one or more RIBA stages
An interest in developing your knowledge of construction methods, materials and technical design
Good communication and organisational skills
Confidence working collaboratively as part of a project team
Strong attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, high-quality work
A proactive approach to problem-solving
Enthusiasm, ambition and a genuine desire to progress professionally
An interest in developing greater technical coordination, project delivery and eventually job-running experience
Previous experience across Education, Healthcare, Commercial or Residential projects would be advantageous, although it is by no means essential.
One of the major attractions of this opportunity is the variety of work available and the chance to build a strong technical foundation across different building types and construction methods.
The practice has a particularly strong track record within the Education sector, alongside an increasingly diverse portfolio encompassing:
Education
Commercial & Industrial
Healthcare
Leisure & Arts
Residential
Sport & Recreation
For a developing Architectural Technologist, this breadth of work offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to different technical challenges, construction systems and project delivery requirements.
Finding the right practice during the early stages of your career can make a huge difference to your long-term development.
This practice places considerable emphasis on investing in its people, offering an environment where less experienced Architectural Technologists can learn from established professionals without being thrown in at the deep end.
The Leeds team offers a friendly, approachable and collaborative studio environment, while the wider practice provides the resources, expertise and project opportunities associated with an established multi-office business.
Whether your ambition is to become a highly accomplished Senior Architectural Technologist, develop into a job-running position or progress towards technical leadership, this opportunity offers an excellent platform from which to build your career.
The successful candidate can expect:
Competitive salary of £30,000 - £38,000, dependent on experience
Flexible and agile working arrangements, including opportunities for home working
A supportive, inclusive and welcoming studio culture
A genuine commitment to work-life balance and employee wellbeing
Structured career development and progression opportunities
Mentoring and guidance from experienced Architects and Senior Architectural Technologists
Ongoing technical training and CPD support
Opportunities to develop Revit proficiency and technical coordination skills
Exposure to projects across a broad range of sectors and RIBA stages
Increasing technical responsibility as your experience develops
Opportunities to progress towards Senior Architectural Technologist and job-running positions
Regular social events and team activities
A comprehensive and generous benefits package
The stability and opportunities offered by an established, award-winning UK architectural practice
