As a Junior Infrastructure Engineer, you will work in the Infrastructure Team to support Central Technology’s datacentre infrastructure equipment and cloud services. By working as part of a high performing team that supports an advanced ISP and cloud services platform this role presents the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge and experience.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Provide first-line support to end-users for hardware, software, and network issues. Respond to tickets and inquiries promptly.
- Deploy new end-user devices and grant access to resources as appropriate.
- Maintain and monitor existing hardware (including core routers, switches, voice servers, virtualisation environments, SANs) using our existing monitoring tools; PRTG and Observium.
- Carry out routine checks in line with the schedule.
- Manage the asset inventory and device lifecycle.
- Patch management across internal and external servers.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to incident alerts (attending site where required) and prepare reports as required.
- Provision new connectivity, voice, VPS and DRaaS services from templates.
- Manually patch non-critical servers and infrastructure.
- Work to Central Technology’s ISO 27001 and 9001 quality processes and procedures.
- Prepare all new infrastructure hardware for deployment.
- Assist the senior infrastructure engineers with core infrastructure projects.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect infrastructure assets from unauthorized access, malware, and other threats.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to infrastructure engineering. Share knowledge with colleagues and participate in training sessions to enhance team capabilities.
- Be part of the on-call rota and assist with out of hours projects and maintenance.
- This role involves, accurate, regular technical reporting. Working proactively on your own initiative and closely with the Head of Infrastructure in a fast-moving industry.
