This is a remote based role that will involve travel to business offices across the UK as per business needs.
Purpose of the Role
This exciting remote based Infrastructure Security Engineer opportunity has arisen to join our Infrastructure Engineering team to focus primarily on remediation of security vulnerabilities and hardening of all aspects of the security stack. You will share tool sets, projects and methodologies with the team and impart knowledge and build security into all of our existing Infrastructure practices and projects.
What You Will Do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more:
- Take ownership of efforts related to the remediation of Everywhen security vulnerabilities across a wide number of systems, operating systems and applications.
- Work closely with the Cyber Security Team, focussing on response and remediation of cyber security incidents.
- Be proactive and analytical of main cyber security operations such as vulnerability management, threat hunting and patching.
- Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
- Scope, plan, document and implement technologies, as required, to the highest standards.
- Deliver customer and stakeholder management to all those with an interest in any works undertaken.
- Research solutions through internal and external knowledge base, as needed.
- Liaise with business, vendors and other IT personnel for the progression of change works.
- Escalate issues with accurate documentation to suitable technical expert or vendor, when required.
- Create knowledge articles for project solutions to be used for future support.
- Provide suggestions for continual improvement.
- Service-related focus with the ability to place yourself in the position of the customer to understand their concerns and issues.
Who We Are Looking For
This is an opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Security Engineer who is willing to work as part of a team and manage stakeholders at all levels. We are looking for someone has:
- Experience in cloud security, systems security, security and incident response within an enterprise infrastructure setting.
- Experience with cloud service providers; Microsoft Azure (preferred) or Google Cloud Platform – in particular we need someone with depth in wide areas of a cloud provider; Security, IAAS, PAAS, Networking, Identity.
- In depth knowledge of complex infrastructure solutions: Azure AD, Windows Server, VMWare, M365, Exchange online, Sharepoint
- Experience with application and operating system hardening, vulnerability assessments, security audits, penetration testing and other security control systems like PAM, SIEM, IDR
- Experience with Premise and Azure Active Directory Domain Services
- Solid understanding of and up to date experience of networking principles and technologies i.e. routing, switching, firewalls, VPN
- Experience of some common software security tools - Ansible, Cortex, DarkTrace, Zscaler, Meraki, Cisco FTD, Infoblox, Cisco ISE
The Following Would Be An Advantage But Not Essential
- Office 365 and Exchange Online administration
- Device management using SCCM/inTune
- Cisco ISE
- Infoblox
- Infrastructure as Code – Terraform (preferred), ARM, Bicep
- Config Automation Experience – Ansible, Chef, Puppet
- Virtualisation technology
- Office 365 and Exchange Online administration
This is an opportunity for a security focused self-disciplined individual with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, who can work independently but also as part of a team. You will need to have excellent attention to detail, be resilient, can keep calm under high pressure, think critically and have problem-solving skills whilst maintaining high standards and a desire to keep ahead of tech change and threat types. We are looking for a proactive, collaborative, organised individual to join the team.
