The International Rates team is part of Vanguard’s Global Rates Active Fixed Income franchise. Based in London, the team manages global aggregate, government, and FX strategies, investing across fixed income, derivatives, and currencies.

As the team expands, we seek a driven individual with a strong interest in global markets and current geopolitical developments. The role is suited for someone passionate about fixed income public markets with demonstrated financial skills.

The Junior Fixed Income Trader supports daily desk operations and participates in the investment process. Initially, the focus will be on becoming an execution expert across multiple fixed income asset classes, evolving into involvement in daily investment decisions.

Core Responsibilities

1. Support trading activities by collecting market information, executing trades, and measuring their impact on portfolios.
2. Respond to inquiries regarding fixed income trading and pricing; act as a liaison with bond vendors.
3. Assist senior traders with research and develop operational knowledge.
4. Reconcile portfolios, document activities, and complete administrative tasks related to cash and trades.
5. Negotiate and execute trades to optimize costs, and generate risk management reports.
6. Research portfolio issues, perform market analysis, and generate reports for senior staff.
7. Identify process improvements through data analysis.
8. Track sector spreads, understand relative value, and build relationships with sector analysts.
9. Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree.
• Progress towards CFA preferred.
• Programming skills in VBA, Python, and Tableau preferred.
