Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment Limited seeks a Junior Field Service Engineer (Machinery / Mechanical) to support installation, commissioning and fault diagnosis of packaging machinery. You will gain hands-on experience and eligibility for electrical qualifications as you progress through training.

You will travel across the UK with occasional overnight stays, joining a family‑run business that emphasises growth and hands‑on development.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Willingness to travel across the UK is essential.

Are you a recent Engineering graduate or college leaver looking to start a hands‑on career in Field Service Engineering?

Are you looking to join a close-knit, family‑run business offering full training, electrical qualifications support and the opportunity to develop into a skilled Service Engineer?

You’ll join a specialist provider of pallet wrapping machinery, stretch film systems and end‑of‑line packaging solutions, supporting customers across manufacturing, food production, logistics and warehousing.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll receive hands‑on training to install, service, repair and commission a wide range of industrial machinery. The company will also support you in gaining further electrical engineering qualifications, helping you build a strong and well‑rounded engineering skill set.

This role would suit a recent Engineering graduate, college leaver, Apprentice or Junior Engineer looking for hands‑on training, electrical qualification support and a clear route into Field Service Engineering.

The Role:

• Assist with the installation and commissioning of packaging machinery
• Learn to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
• Work on pallet wrappers, conveyors, turntables, strapping and banding equipment
• Work alongside experienced engineers and develop your technical skills
• Travel throughout the UK, with occasional overnight stays
• Attend the Wellingborough facility for training, repairs and meetings

The Person:

• Recently completed a Level 3 qualification, apprenticeship, HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness to travel throughout the UK
