Job summary

Import Export Services Ltd. is seeking a Junior Field Service Engineer (FSE) - Semiconductor Equipment to join our Engineering team. Based remotely from home, you will support installation, commissioning and routine maintenance of semiconductor equipment at customer sites across the UK and further afield.

You will learn under senior engineers, diagnose faults, repair systems, and generate service reports. The role requires flexibility, travel, and a proactive approach to ensure high equipment

Qualifications

• Engineering-related degree or equivalent qualification.

Reporting to : Engineering Manager
Location : Home Based

Basic Purpose

IES are a leading UK-based provider of Field Service Engineering Resources supporting a wide array of Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment within the Manufacturing, Research and Scientific Development industries.

Based in your home region, you will be responsible for learning with support, Installation, De-Installation, De-Contamination, Hook-Up, Commissioning, Repair and Maintenance.

Your work will involve extensive travel throughout the UK, Europe, and the Rest of the World, as required, to deliver Semiconductor Maintenance, Repair, Servicing and Process Diagnostic Services at our customer sites.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates will ideally possess ONC/HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering and a basic knowledge of the semiconductor world will be a plus. The junior engineer may be offered to work in one or more of the following areas:

• Ion Implantation
• Diffusion / CVD Furnaces
• Wet Etch, Dry (Plasma) Etch
• Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)
• Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) / Sputtering Systems
• Photolithography, Chemical Mechanical Polish (CMP)
• Rapid Thermal Processing and Metrology (SEM, XRF, Film Thickness Measurement, AFM)
• Other areas as required or benefitting.

A junior field service engineer should hold a basic understanding of electrical, mechanical and electronic systems.

Requirements

The candidate should be able to demonstrate the following experience at a customer site:

For the following requirements you will be working alongside a more seasoned engineer. The process of learning will be on the job training and using a three-step approach - Looking, doing with support and then doing on your own with the goal of understanding, practicing and then applying.

• Evaluate, analyze, diagnose and troubleshoot technical equipment problems
• Repair and modify equipment
• Evaluate equipment to determine the type and extent of problems
• Repair of system-level issues
• Prepare field service reports on customer support activity and provide documentation to other supporting functions on re-occurring issues
• The nature of work may require on some occasions that you will work independently once you have mastered a subject.
• Contribute to the capturing, re-use, collaboration, and improvement of knowledge using available systems.
• May be required to complete other business activities on behalf of the company from time to time in line with identified skills, competencies and experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in IT skills, including all Microsoft Office systems, in particular intermediate Excel capability
• Ability to work autonomously and use initiative to resolve issues, but elevate problems or questions as appropriate
• Excellent planning and time management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the Company

• Standard tools in a field service engineers toolbox.

Special Working Conditions

• Additional and/or unsociable hours may be necessary when required.
• Early starts and late finishes are not uncommon.
• Travel away from home and abroad required.
