Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a junior DevOps-focused engineer to join the Reuters Imagen team in Cambridge. You will learn to deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Imagen installations across AWS and Azure, while integrating partner content and automating ingest pipelines.

You will gain hands-on experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting in PowerShell or Python, plus exposure to data formats like XML/JSON and REST APIs. A great opportunity to grow in cloud and media tech.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases (read/write queries against live systems).
• Clear written and verbal communication, including with non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with disciplined problem isolation.
• Scripting ability in PowerShell and/or Python, willingness to learn both.
• Git-based CI/CD workflows, ideally GitHub Actions.
• Infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform.
• XSLT/XPath experience or data transformation between schemas.
• Windows Server, IIS, and Linux fundamentals.
• Networking basics: DNS, TLS, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing.
• Core AWS services: EC2, S3, Lambda, SQS, IAM, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch.
• Containers/orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS/AKS).
• Monitoring, logging, and REST API interactions.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, troubleshoot and maintain Imagen platform installations across cloud environments.
• Onboard content partners by configuring ingest pipelines and transforming partner metadata.
• Integrate partner systems with Reuters Connect using APIs, storage workflows and delivery profiles.
• Maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines for serverless ingest functions.
• Build automation around a customer platform using watch folders, event-driven ingests, and API integrations.
• Investigate failed ingests and incidents, documenting fixes to prevent recurrence.
• Plan and execute media migrations and support decommissioning of legacy systems.
• Document builds and learnings on internal wiki and repositories.
• Collaborate with partner managers and internal stakeholders to define needs.

Job description

• The Reuters Imagen DevOps team deploys, operates and extends those customer platforms. We work across AWS and Azure, automate everything we reasonably can, and build the bespoke integrations that connect each customer’s platform to the systems and partners around it
• We are the people who get a new content partner from “we’ve agreed a deal” to “their video is live on Reuters Connect”
• Learn to deploy, configure, troubleshoot and maintain Imagen platform installations across multiple cloud environments, and become confident diagnosing issues across the full stack — application, database, storage, network and infrastructure
• Onboard new Reuters content partners onto our platforms: configuring ingest pipelines, writing and testing XSLT mappings that transform partner metadata into the format Imagen ingests, and validating that content reaches Reuters Connect correctly
• Integrate customer Imagen systems with Reuters Connect, following an established procedure covering platform configuration, API credentials, storage, workflows and delivery profiles
• Maintain and extend infrastructure as code in Terraform, and the CI/CD pipelines that deploy our serverless ingest functions
• Build the bespoke automation that surrounds a customer platform: watch folders and event-driven ingest pipelines, integrations against customer and third-party APIs, and scripts in Python and PowerShell that automate work which would otherwise be manual
• Investigate failed ingests and platform incidents using logs, metrics and API responses, resolve them, and feed the fix back into code or documentation so it does not recur
• Plan and run media migrations, moving large archives and their metadata between platforms and storage providers, and support the decommissioning of legacy systems
• Document what you build and what you learn, on our internal wiki and in the repositories you work in
• Work directly with Reuters content partner managers and internal stakeholders to understand requests, agree what is needed, and keep them informed

Working knowledge of at least one major public cloud (AWS or Azure) and a genuine interest in learning the other.
