Job summary

Owen Daniels in East Sussex is seeking a Development Engineer to help bring concepts to manufacture with SolidWorks. The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree and hands-on experience in product or industrial design, with a proactive approach to supporting development from concept through to manufacture.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with product or industrial design gained through industry, placement, or university projects.
• Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and drawings.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive hands-on approach.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Team-oriented with a drive to develop in product development.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of new products from concept through to manufacture using SolidWorks.
• Produce 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Assist with product testing, validation, and continuous improvement activities.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet product development objectives and project milestones.
• Support prototype builds, evaluations, and design modifications based on test results and customer feedback.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute innovative ideas for product improvements.
• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are suitable for production.
• Assist in maintaining engineering documentation, BOMs, and revision control.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and company quality procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
