Job summary

Chiltern in Milton Keynes is seeking a Junior Design Engineer to design all aspects of new products. You will work with Sales and customers to develop engineered solutions, using CAD from concept through detailed design in line with BS 8888.

Ensure safety and environmental considerations across the life cycle. Responsibilities include data gathering for quotations, cost calculations, and adherence to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum ONC/OND or BTEC Level 3 in engineering disciplines.
• Ability to design using CAD from concept to detailed drawings.
• Understanding of BS 8888 and relevant standards.

Responsibilities

• Designs special products using CAD from conception through to detailed design.
• Obtains data to prepare quotations and engineered solutions by liaising with Sales, customers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Ensures ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 policies are followed.
• Calculates product costs following company policy.
• Designs control panels and electrical/electro-pneumatic controls.
• Works to ensure safety for manufacturing, installers, end users and lifecycle decommissioning.

Job description

The individual will work closely with all Manufacturing functions to ensure designs align with corporate best practice and are engineered for efficient manufacture at the Milton Keynes facility.,

• Support the company in its growth of special engineered products by working closely with Sales and all current and potential customers.
• Obtain all data necessary to prepare the quotation and engineered solution of a customers project by liaising with External Sales, direct with customers, vendors and internal departments.
• Design special products using CAD from conception through to detailed design in accordance with BS 8888 and company standards.
• Seek to provide solutions that reduce both the product and manufacturing environmental impact through the complete product life cycle.
• Ensure design solutions are safe for manufacturing operatives, installers/integrators, end users, maintenance operatives and end of life decommissioning.
• Calculate product costs based on the corporation policy.
• Ensure ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 policies and procedures are adhered to.
  Minimum ONC / OND or BTEC Level 3 in relevant engineering disciplines.
• Electrical knowledge (Basic principles)

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, Design experience of: Jigs, fixtures, tooling, mechatronics or special purpose machines

• Understanding of electro-pneumatic control including circuit diagrams

• Knowledge of serial interface communication
