Job summary

Betway Group is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to assist in exploring untapped data values across its business ecosystem and to support predictive and prescriptive modelling for commercial and operational gains.

You will help validate data quality, perform cleaning and transformation, and collaborate with technology and operations teams to deploy and monitor models while communicating findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities

• Assist in data exploration of untapped values to inform predictive and prescriptive modelling solutions.
• Ensure data accuracy, reliability, and suitability for the model through cleaning, verification, transformation and validation methods.
• Assist with marrying business understanding and knowledge with existing predictive and prescriptive model offerings for commercial and/or operational benefits.
• Assist in the deployment of relevant models into applicable business processes through collaboration with technology and/or operations teams.
• Assist in model evaluation and monitoring in production.
• Contribute to technical standards, tooling, and best practices across the team; communicate modelling approaches, trade-offs, and results clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Data Exploration

The Junior Data Scientist is responsible for assisting and participating in exploration of untapped data values in our business ecosystem, regardless of data formats, as well as mining external data, with the aim of utilizing them for the purpose of predictive and prescriptive modelling solutions.

Data Validation

This role is responsible for ensuring that the data being used is accurate, reliable, and suitable for the model being built. This includes tasks such as data cleaning, data verification, data transformation and validation methods using both statistical and machine learning methods.

Model Usage

This role assists with marrying business understanding and knowledge with existing, appropriate, predictive and prescriptive model offerings (machine learning and AI) for commercial and/or operational benefits, given a known business challenge.

Model Deployment

The Junior Data Scientist assists in the integration and implementation of relevant models into the applicable business processes through collaboration with relevant technology and/or operations team(s).

Model Evaluation and Monitoring

They assist in model validation, evaluation and monitoring in production.

Team Development & Stakeholder Engagement

The Junior Data Scientist contributes to technical standards, tooling, and best practices across the team. They communicate modelling approaches, trade-offs, and results clearly to non-technical stakeholders, helping with how data science work is understood and adopted across the business.
