Job summary

Prevail Partners is recruiting a Junior Software Engineer (Data) to join the Platform & System Operations team on a permanent basis in London. The role focuses on building and improving data tools used by intelligence analysts, with a backend core in Databricks, AWS and Python, and a React frontend where needed.

You will work with analysts and business development to decide what to build, maintain production quality, and grow your skills alongside senior engineers in a secure environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on coding in Python and SQL; quick to pick up cloud/data platforms.
• Familiar with Git and team review standards.
• Degree in Computer Science, Data, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills with practical, workable solutions.
• Attention to detail and methodical testing/troubleshooting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain technical concepts.
• Comfortable engaging with end users to elicit requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build and release features for internal tools and platforms with review from senior colleagues.
• Write and maintain Python and SQL across data pipelines and backend services.
• Work with analysts to translate problems into scoped work and deliver improvements.
• Deepen knowledge of Databricks, AWS, Python and React as you grow the stack.
• Evaluate third-party tools with stakeholders and integrate them where appropriate.
• Support analysts day-to-day, triaging issues and escalating technical problems.
• Document solutions, workflows and known issues for the knowledge base.
• Maintain high standards of data security and handling for sensitive data.
