Job summary

AXA UK is seeking a motivated Junior Data Engineer to support the General Insurance Data Engineering Team. You will help build and maintain data pipelines, write Python and SQL scripts, and ensure data quality to enable business insights for smarter decision-making.

The role offers a hybrid work model with two days in the office and three days remote, and requires a degree or equivalent experience with a proactive learning mindset. Eligible to work in the United Kingdom is a precondition.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience gained through an apprenticeship, internship, or relevant coursework.
• Python skills suitable for data processing or scripting tasks.
• Fundamental knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating data effectively.
• Genuine interest in data engineering with a proactive willingness to learn technical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building and maintaining reliable data pipelines to integrate data from various sources.
• Write simple SQL and Python scripts to support data extraction, transformation and loading processes.
• Perform data quality checks in implementing data solutions and following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews to learn standards and contribute to team knowledge.
• Document processes and contribute to team wikis and knowledge bases.
• Help ensure data operations run smoothly by monitoring scheduled jobs and alerting on failures.
• Collaborate with analysts and other team members to understand and deliver data requirements.
