Job summary

WeEngage Group in Wallsend is seeking a Junior Data Centre Technician to join our on-site operations team. You will gain hands-on experience with high-density GPU infrastructure, server hardware, networking equipment and structured cabling, working a rotating 24/7 shift.

This broad role develops practical skills across data centre operations as you work alongside experienced technicians, with clear opportunities for career progression and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Hands-on technical or operational experience in a data centre, IT support or similar field.
• Interest in computer hardware with ability to perform component-level work.
• Understanding of server hardware and networking basics.
• Logical, methodical troubleshooting approach and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow documented procedures and work with a shift team.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain servers, storage, networking gear and structured cabling.
• Rack and stack servers, switches and supporting equipment.
• Replace failed hardware components such as drives and power supplies.
• Install, route and label copper and fibre cabling.
• Test copper/fibre connections and identify faulty components.
• Perform routine site inspections and ensure reliable data centre operation.
• Receive, inspect and inventory new hardware.
• Follow procedures, document work and escalate issues when needed.
• Support the wider shift team with data centre operations.
