Job description

Are you an autistic individual seeking work experience in the data, analytics and performance sector? Building on the success of our well-established Autism Internship Programme, Essex County Council is excited to offer up to 10 places in our new week-long work experience programme within the People Analytics, Performance & Insight team.

The programme has been designed with you in mind, you will gain hands on experience by completing a mini project, whilst developing your skills and knowledge. You will work with our experienced colleagues who will support and guide you through the week.

You will also attend workshops with our award-winning Entry to Work team, who will work with you to build your CV, demonstrate interview techniques and give you ways to be confident in yourself with interviews!

You will be invited to attend mock interviews by the team at the end week - allowing you practise your new skills and to show the team what you have learnt.

The week will be hybrid, meaning you will spend some time working onsite at our Chelmsford Office and some time working from home.

Dates: Monday 14th July - Friday 18th July

Location:

Monday - County Hall, Chelmsford, CM1 1QH

Tuesday - Work from Home

Wednesday - Work from Home

Thursday - County Hall, Chelmsford, CM1 1QH

Friday - County Hall, Chelmsford, CM1 1QH

Times: 9.30-16:30 each day with the following breaks:

• Morning break at 11:00-11:15

• Lunch break at 13:00-14:00

If you are successful in securing a place on this programme you will receive a detailed schedule for the week in advance.

Essential Criteria:

• You are autistic (no formal diagnosis required).
• You are 18 years of age, or older.
• You have English and Maths at Grade A*-C (or 4-9) or English & Maths Functional Skills at Level 2.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel: Ability to perform basic data entry, manipulation, and analysis using Excel or other data tools (PowerBI and Rstudio available).
• Experience in using data to answer questions: Demonstrated ability to utilise data for problem-solving and decision-making, whether in academic, professional, or personal contexts.
• Inquisitive nature and problem-solving mindset: A natural curiosity and eagerness to explore data, ask questions, and find solutions.
