Job description

Position – Damp & Timber Surveyor

Job Description:

A local damp proofing and timber company is seeking a Junior Damp & Timber Surveyor to support prescribed remedial treatments, primarily for domestic properties, on a self-employed basis. The role involves visiting residential and some commercial properties to assess potential causes of damage and recommend solutions.

To be successful in this role, you should:

  1. Have experience in site visits, producing basic floor plans with site notes detailing issues and remedial recommendations.
  2. Possess a good understanding of damp & timber treatment options, especially relating to structural damp in ground and below ground areas, and condensation.
  3. Have basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Word, and digital floor plan creation. In-house training will be provided.
  4. Be located in or near London, have reliable transport, and be available for travel within London and the Home Counties. Good communication skills, client liaison, and a presentable appearance are essential.
  5. Own a vehicle and mobile phone. PC and measuring/testing equipment may be provided, along with training on digital drawing software and shadowing during site visits.
  6. Maintain personal records of travel expenses and submit receipts monthly.

The ideal candidate may hold one of the following qualifications or equivalent:

  • Certificated Surveyor for Remedial Treatment (CSRT)
  • Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing (CSSW)
  • Certificated Surveyor of Timber & Dampness in Buildings (CSTDB)
  • Certificated Surveyor of Dampness in Buildings (CSDB) or equivalent

The company offers:

  • Self-employed contract
