Position – Damp & Timber Surveyor
Job Description:
A local damp proofing and timber company is looking for a Junior Damp & Timber Surveyor to support prescribing remedial treatments, typically for domestic properties, working on a self-employed basis. You will visit residential and some commercial properties, assess potential causes of damage, and explore potential resolutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Ideally have experience with site visits, producing basic floor plans with site notes detailing issues and recommendations for remedial steps.
- Have a good understanding of damp & timber treatment options related to structural damp in ground and below ground areas, and condensation.
- Possess basic computer skills including email, Microsoft Word, and digital floor plan production. In-house training is available.
- Be located in or near London, have reliable transport, and be available for travel throughout London and the Home Counties. Good communication skills, client liaison, and a presentable appearance are essential.
- Own a vehicle and mobile phone. Equipment like PC, measuring/testing tools may be provided, along with training on digital drawing software and shadowing during site visits.
- Maintain records of travel expenses and submit receipts monthly.
Qualifications (preferably one of the following or equivalent):
- Certificated Surveyor for Remedial Treatment (CSRT)
- Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing (CSSW)
- Certificated Surveyor of Timber & Dampness in Buildings (CSTDB)
- Certificated Surveyor of Dampness in Buildings (CSDB) or equivalent
Company Offerings:
- Self-employed contract
- Commission of 7.5% on completed jobs (approximately 1 in 4 jobs)

- 40p per mile, plus parking fees (excluding fines)
