Job summary

NRL in Newcastle is seeking an Assistant Contracts Surveyor to support the commercial management team across all stages of project delivery.

This role suits someone with early experience or a strong educational background in surveying who aims to develop their cost-focused commercial skills within a professional team.

Location: Newcastle. The successful candidate will liaise with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate cost reporting and compliance with NEC/JCT contracts.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with NEC/JCT contracts preferred.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and cost management software.
• Eagerness to learn and develop professionally within the commercial function.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing subcontracts from procurement through account settlement.
• Support the preparation of cost reports, valuations, and payment applications.
• Help track project costs and maintain accurate financial records.
• Contribute to risk and value management, providing cost data for decision-making.
• Assist with preparing tender documents and reviewing contract conditions.
• Liaise with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure effective communication.
• Maintain compliance with contractual obligations and procedures.
