Job summary

Signet Jewelers, home to H.Samuel and Ernest Jones, is seeking a Junior Buyer for the Diamond category. The role is hybrid, based in Watford, with close collaboration across planning, sourcing and US teams.

You will own developing and trading diamond ranges, analyse trends, negotiate with suppliers, and manage the product lifecycle across retail and ecommerce. Strong analytics and stakeholder management are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as Junior Buyer or Senior Assistant Buyer in a multi-site retail environment.
• Strong commercial and analytical skills; you’re comfortable with numbers and data.
• Trend awareness in jewellery or accessories.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Experience building effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and trade Diamond product ranges.
• Collaborate with Merchandising Planning and Sourcing to build commercial, customer-driven ranges.
• Analyse trends and identify opportunities; negotiate with suppliers and manage lifecycle across retail and ecommerce.
• Plan promotions to drive traffic and margin in line with brand identity.
• Coordinate with marketing, VM and retail teams to showcase ranges in-store and online.
• Mentor at least one direct report within Buying Admin.
• Monitor product performance and optimise sell-through while minimising terminal stock.
• Ensure Go to Market processes and regulatory compliance are followed.

We're looking for a Junior Buyer to join our Diamond category team - a perfect opportunity for a commercially savvy and trend-aware Assistant Buyer ready to take the next step.

What the role involves:

As Junior Buyer, you'll take ownership of developing and trading our Diamond product ranges. You'll partner closely with Merchandise Planning and Sourcing teams to build commercial, customer-driven ranges that deliver on sales, margin, and stock targets. You'll also collaborate with our US buying and sourcing teams to bring global insight into your category.

Your role will touch everything from strategy to execution - from analysing trends and identifying opportunities, to negotiating with suppliers and managing the product lifecycle across both retail and ecommerce.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and deliver seasonal and annual strategies for your category.
• Build and trade ranges based on customer insight, market trends, and performance data.
• Work with suppliers to source and develop new product - ensuring quality, cost, and compliance are met.
• Plan and execute promotions to drive traffic and margin, aligned with our brand identity.
• Collaborate with marketing, visual merchandising, and retail teams to bring your ranges to life in-store and online.
• Manage and mentor at least one direct report within the Buying Admin team.
• Stay on top of product performance, taking action to optimise sell-through and minimise terminal stock.
• Ensure full adherence to the Go to Market process and relevant legislation, including the Competition Act, Bribery Act, and Kimberley Process.

What we're looking for:

• Proven success as a Junior Buyer or Senior Assistant Buyer within a multi-site retail environment.
• Strong commercial and analytical skills - you're comfortable with numbers and data.
• A sharp eye for trends, especially in jewellery or accessories.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Experience building effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
• Organised, proactive, and confident juggling multiple projects at once.
• Previous experience in jewellery buying or knowledge of the category is desirable.
