Job summary

Virtual Hire Staffing is seeking a Junior Bookkeeper for a full-time, permanent role in Shaftesbury, Dorset. You will join a modern accountancy practice and have opportunities to develop across bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and general accounts work.

This role is ideal for someone starting a long-term career in practice, with hands-on training, ongoing mentorship and clear progression within the firm.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 3 or 4 student (or equivalent).
• Bookkeeping experience (practice or industry).
• Strong IT and cloud-software skills.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.
• Positive, organised, eager to learn.
• Ambition to progress within accountancy practice.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase and sales invoices.
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records.
• Prepare VAT returns.
• Reconcile bank, credit card and online platforms (PayPal, Shopify, Amazon).
• Support clients with bookkeeping queries and system setup.
• Liaise with HMRC.
• Assist with payroll processing.
• Support sole trader accounts and tax returns.
