Job summary

GVR Solutions are seeking a Junior/Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a Colchester-based main contractor covering Essex and Kent. You will assist with cost plans, procurement, valuations, and cost reporting while supporting senior commercial staff across multiple projects.

Requirements include a driving licence, a relevant QS qualification, strong numeracy, Excel proficiency, and a clear willingness to learn within a busy education, commercial, healthcare and student accommodation sector

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or related construction discipline (or working towards one).
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Eagerness to learn and develop within a specialist subcontracting environment.

GVR Solutions are currently working alongside a very well-established main contractor who are looking to bring an Early-career Quantity Surveyor onto the team, with a salary of 26k- 40k available depending on the level of experience.

As a Colchester-based main contractor, they focus on new build and refurbishment projects within the education, commercial, healthcare and student accommodation sectors. They deliver projects across Essex and into Kent, with a strong pipeline of work across the region.

Responsibilities of the Junior/Assistant Quantity Surveyor:

• Assist in the commercial management of multiple construction projects.
• Support the preparation of cost plans, budgets, and tender submissions.
• Assist with procurement of subcontractors and material packages.
• Measure works and prepare valuations, variations, and final accounts.
