Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment is seeking a Junior Applications Engineer in Redditch for hybrid/remote work with training and progression. You will design lighting schemes, prepare AutoCAD drawings, support quotations, and liaise with customers while developing specialist knowledge in tunnel and exterior lighting projects.

You will build skills in Relux/Dialux, apply Excel expertise, and grow into a recognised lighting design specialist with in-house training and real responsibility from day one.

Qualifications

• Junior-level technical engineering background or recent graduate.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and strong Excel skills.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Carry out lighting design and project support for tunnel, exterior lighting and related schemes.
• Create/edit AutoCAD drawings; prepare design reports/proposals; support quotations/CRM updates.
• Attend site surveys/meetings/commissioning as required and liaise with stakeholders.

Redditch - Hybrid / Remote (Commutable from: Bromsgrove, Worcester, Solihull, Birmingham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Kidderminster, Alcester)

Are you a Junior / Graduate Engineer looking to build specialist design skills, with Hybrid / Remote Working and Paid Overtime on technically interesting tunnel and exterior lighting projects? Do you have a technical engineering background with AutoCAD knowledge and strong Excel skills, and want a role that will develop you long‑term?

This is a permanent position with a well‑established UK lighting manufacturer, offering a clear platform to develop into a true specialist in lighting design and project support. You'll be backed by in‑house training and the resources to grow your knowledge while being trusted with real responsibility from day one.

The business is focused on expanding this division, so you'll be joining a team with momentum and long‑term opportunity. You'll get exposure to varied projects across roads, tunnels and exterior environments, working closely with internal stakeholders and customers as you build your technical capability.

You'll produce lighting designs and reports, create and edit AutoCAD drawings, support quotations and CRM updates, and attend site surveys/meetings/commissioning activity where required.

This role suits a junior engineer motivated by high‑level technical progression and becoming a recognised specialist, rather than staying in a purely routine, same‑task role.

The Role:

• Lighting design / project support for tunnel, handrail and exterior lighting projects (Dialux / Relux / Relux Tunnel where applicable)
• Create / edit drawings and documentation using AutoCAD; produce design reports / proposals and support quotations / CRM updates
• Hybrid / remote with site visits for surveys/meetings/commissioning; some unsociable hours (night/weekend) with paid overtime

The Person:

• Junior-level technical engineering background (open to graduates)
• AutoCAD knowledge
• Confident using Excel with strong communication skills
