Job summary

CoStar Group in Glasgow is seeking an AI Engineer I to build and operate AI-powered products within Zonda. You will work with experienced engineers and product stakeholders to develop, evaluate, deploy, and improve LLM and machine-learning applications.

The role emphasizes learning quickly and solving pragmatic problems in a collaborative environment. This early-career position focuses on strong software fundamentals, modern AI systems, and production deployment within a real estate analytics

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, AI/ML, or equivalent practical experience.
• 0–2 years of relevant professional experience. Internships, research, and substantial academic or personal projects are relevant experience.
• Strong Python programming skills and sound software engineering fundamentals.
• Practical experience building at least one meaningful AI/ML application or project.
• Sound understanding of modern LLM application concepts such as prompting, structured outputs, tool use, embeddings, retrieval/RAG, or agentic workflows.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate and debug AI system behavior.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain components of LLM, agentic, retrieval, and other AI/ML applications.
• Work with engineers and product stakeholders to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
• Build experiments and evaluations to measure AI system quality, reliability, latency, and cost.
• Prepare and integrate data required by AI applications, including retrieval and embedding-based systems.
• Contribute to deploying, monitoring, debugging, and improving AI services in production.
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and team engineering practices.
• Keep up to date with developments in applied AI and evaluate new techniques and tools where they can improve our products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship features.
