Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a Junior Aero Design Engineer to support the design and development of race car aerodynamic surfaces and wind tunnel components. You will collaborate with aerodynamicists, CFD engineers, model makers and wind tunnel technicians to deliver high-quality design solutions.

The role is factory-based with occasional travel, providing opportunities to contribute to critical development activities and progress the team's performance on track.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aeronautical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Good working knowledge of 3D CAD and engineering drawing standards.
  • Understanding of vehicle design principles and FIA regulations impact on race car development.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Formula Student experience or exposure to a high-performance engineering environment would be beneficial.

  • Support the design and development of aerodynamic surfaces, wind tunnel model parts and assemblies using CAD tools and established design methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver development projects to challenging timescales.
  • Produce and maintain high-quality engineering models and drawings to support manufacturing and testing activities.
  • Contribute to technical problem-solving, troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate project progress effectively and help ensure milestones and deadlines are achieved.

Job description

As a Junior Aero Design Engineer, you will play an important role within the Aero Design team, supporting the design and development of race car aerodynamic surfaces, wind tunnel model components and assemblies that contribute to on-track performance.

Working in a highly collaborative environment, you will partner with aerodynamicists, CFD engineers, model makers, production specialists, wind tunnel technicians, R&D and vehicle engineering teams to deliver high-quality design solutions. This is a predominantly factory-based role with occasional travel requirements and the flexibility to support critical development activities when needed.
