Job summary

Dover Fueling Solutions is seeking a Junior Buyer in Scotland to support the Materials team with indirect purchasing. The role emphasizes process stability, system accuracy, and compliance, providing exposure to supplier coordination and ERP workflows.

You will work to improve purchasing processes, build supplier relations, and participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives across the function.

Qualifications

  • Technical skills include MS Office, especially Excel; ERP knowledge (Oracle preferred but not essential).
  • Ability to manage tasks, prioritise workload, and follow instructions; strong communication and Lean/CI awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Raise and issue indirect purchase orders in line with company policy and within approval limits.
  • Obtain order confirmations and update purchase orders accordingly.
  • Monitor and follow up on open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and communicate delays.
  • Coordinate collections with suppliers in conjunction with approved logistics partners.
  • Ensure goods receipt is completed accurately and promptly.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice queries with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships; act as first point of contact for supplier queries.
  • Liaise with other internal departments; use ERP system; ensure standard work is followed.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement tasks and Kaizen events; champion change.
  • Support the materials department in general administrative activities.

Role Summary: The Junior Buyer position is a fast‑paced role that assists the Materials team with the procurement function. This position is designed to be an entry level position focusing on implementing and stabilising a robust and compliant indirect purchasing process whilst building strong foundational capability in supply coordination, system accuracy and purchase process compliance.

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Raise and issue indirect purchase orders in line with company policy while ensuring accuracy and complying with approval limits.
  • Obtain order confirmations and update purchase orders accordingly.
  • Monitor and proactively follow up on open purchase orders to ensure on time delivery and communicate delays or issues with requisitioner.
  • Coordinate collections at suppliers in conjunction with the approved logistics partners.
  • Ensure goods receipt is completed accurately and promptly.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice queries.
  • Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships and act as first point of contact for supplier queries.
  • Liaise and collaborate closely with other internal departments.
  • Using ERP system, ensuring all standard work activities are executed in a timely manner.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement tasks and projects as requested and champion change.
  • Support the materials department in general administrative activities.
  • Demonstrate engagement in participating in lean activity, 5S, process efficiency improvements, Kaizen events and other company process.
  • Any additional duties as required.
Experience and Qualifications Required
  • Technical Skills: Competent MS Office applications user, especially Excel; ERP knowledge (Oracle experience preferred but not essential).
  • Other Requirements: Ability to manage your tasks and prioritise workload and follow instruction where given. Knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement is an advantage Great interpersonal and communication skills Self-motivated, pro‑active and open to learn new activities.
