BBC Monitoring is seeking to recruit a Journalist to work as part of its team monitoring Russian media. Based in London, you'll produce content in English for BBCM’s website, other BBC platforms and commercial customers.
You will be fluent in Russian and English, with excellent news writing and editing skills, the ability to translate accurately from broadcast and social media, and journalistic experience.
You will have a thorough knowledge of the Russian media environment, a keen understanding of Russian politics and an interest in international affairs.

BBC Monitoring provides news and information based on our monitoring of open source media from over 150 countries in more than 70 languages.
It is an important part of the BBC's newsgathering operation, with journalists based in the UK and in international offices, and provides content for a range of BBC platforms.
At BBCM, we track, translate, summarise and analyse local media sources to offer insight and make sense of what is happening on the ground around the world. Our extensive operation enables us to provide insightful and reliable coverage of political, economic, security and media news.
Our international perspective means we keep across broadcast, press and social/digital media sources in multiple languages, especially where reliable news and information are in short supply, or where the BBC has no presence in country.
Our service is also provided to commercial clients and the UK and US governments.
You will play a pivotal role in meeting the needs of BBC Monitoring’s customers by identifying news and key insights from Russian broadcast, print, online and social media.
You will write engaging reports in English in a range of formats, including verbatim translation.
You'll use a variety of tools and techniques to mine the media for information and story ideas, identify emerging trends and narratives and contribute to advance planning for coverage of key events.
You will work within a shift pattern, including some weekend work.

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum base salary depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience + London Weighting (£5,319). The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
