Job summary

Prysmian Group in Bishopstoke (Eastleigh, Hampshire) is seeking a Laboratory Jointing Technician to support contract-type tests and R&D activities in the UK High Voltage Laboratory.

Key tasks include assisting with XLPE and fluid-filled cable projects, helping high voltage jointers and test engineers, performing optical fibre jointing and testing, and maintaining a clean, safe lab environment with some overtime as required.

Qualifications

• Can-do attitude with ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to work flexibly to meet deadlines.
• FLT licence desirable; training available.
• Ability to communicate with laboratory management at multiple levels.
• Experience in a similar role is desirable.

Job description

We currently have a requirement for a Laboratory Jointing Technician based within the High Voltage Laboratory at our site Bishopstoke (location details below), to work on Prysmian Group contract type tests and research and development activities.

The successful applicant must have a responsible attitude and be committed to safety, have some basic knowledge of power and optical jointing and commitment to work as part of a larger team.

Applicants must be hard working, reliable, organised and enthusiastic with the ability to provide quality work and meet targets within a fast moving environment. A commitment to work a reasonable amount of overtime is required.

The UK High Voltage Laboratory tests everything from high voltage to extra high voltage cables and accessories and is the largest laboratory both within the UK and within the Prysmian Group worldwide.

The main responsibilities of this role:

• To work on XLPE and fluid filled cable projects, assisting high voltage cable jointers.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have a can-do attitude and be able to work to a high level of accuracy, in a fast-paced environment. The individual will be willing to work flexibly to achieve deadlines as required.

A FLT licence is desirable; however, training can be provided.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate at a variety of levels internally, providing feedback to the laboratory management.

Experience in a similar role/environment is desirable.
