Job description

First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic business that is looking to recruit a Joinery Foreman on a permanent basis to cover the Manchester area (and other areas further afield).

Overview

Responsibilities include leading the joinery team, overseeing production, ensuring safety and quality standards, and managing on-site build activities for exhibitions and events.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Lead by example to foster a positive culture towards HSS across all teams.
  2. Report to the Manager on production order issues, information errors, and output quality.
  3. Support warehouse management with production team labour to meet targets and standards.
  4. Build features, stands, and bespoke elements in the warehouse; support team in Pull & Prep; oversee critical loading projects.
  5. Develop a robust breakdown plan with appropriate labour and resources to meet timelines, ensure safe return of equipment, and report defects.
  6. Work with the Manager to assess equipment and stock, report faulty machinery, and follow maintenance plans.
  7. Contribute to facilities management by reporting defects and assisting in maintenance.
  8. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, contributing to daily clean-down processes.
  9. Manage sub-hire labour during build and breakdown, ensuring schedules and equipment are on plan.
  10. Ensure sub-hire labour follows procedures; report accidents or near misses.
  11. Identify and quarantine faults in shell schemes or other components.
  12. Monitor and control build schedules, communicate delays or shortfalls, and adjust team efforts accordingly.
  13. Oversee multiple services (build plan, shell, flooring, furniture) in collaboration with the event manager.
  14. Lead the team to install all services and components correctly before project completion.
  15. Approve block plans for HSS and ensure records are filed with the Event Manager before the show opens.
  16. Supervise onsite loading of trucks, ensuring safe and damage-free loading of stock.
Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Proven experience in a production facility or exhibition/event management preferred.
  2. Carpentry/joinery experience is essential.
  3. Full UK Drivers License (maximum 6 points).
  4. Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  5. Client and service-focused attitude.

Job Details:
