Job summary

Northern Ireland Housing Executive in Portadown is recruiting a Joiner to deliver essential maintenance across housing properties in a public sector environment. The role covers fitting kitchens, repairing doors, floors, and roofing components, with a Monday-Thursday plus Friday schedule and a temporary ongoing contract.

The ideal candidate will have an apprenticeship in Joinery, 2 years post-apprenticeship experience, a solid safety knowledge base, and a driving licence.

Qualifications

• Have successfully completed an apprenticeship in Joinery (either time served or skills based).
• 2 years’ post Apprenticeship Joinery experience.
• Competent in core trade with ability to complete a range of tasks without input from other operatives.
• Sound practical knowledge and understanding of current Health and Safety requirements and legislation in a maintenance/repair environment.
• Full current driving licence (C1 desirable). A form of transport will be provided to enable the postholder to carry out their duties.
• Flexible to provide an emergency call out service on evenings and weekends - rota basis.
• Basic AccessNI Disclosure required; having a criminal record will not necessarily bar employment.

Responsibilities

• Fitting kitchens to required specification.
• Repairing, renewing and maintaining internal/external doors, door frames, windows and ironmongery.
• Repairing, renewing and maintaining all types of flooring, tiles and levelling compound.
• Repairing, renewing and maintaining bath panels, skirting, ply ducting, etc.
• Repairing, renewing and maintaining fencing/gates and associated works.
• Form-work and joist/roof trusses, slating and tiling and flat roof construction.
• Repairs to gutters/downpipes and roof line works.
• Erecting plasterboard and dry lining.
• Painting and staining as required.
