Joiner (Public Sector)

VANRATH are assisting our client, a large Public Sector Organisation, in their search for an Joinerfor 6 months initially with the possibility of extension. You will predominantly be based in their Dundonald site.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to fulfil a requirement to:

• Carry out a wide range of planned and reactive building maintenance and installation tasks in a safe, effective and economic manner.
• Carry out unplanned maintenance task which may include diagnosing and repairing faults for items such as, but not limited to:
• • locking mechanisms for doors
  • Ironmongery for doors (Handles, hinges, door closures, emergency release systems)
  • Provide safe access to potential asbestos contaminated areas (above ceiling voids)
• Undertake planned maintenance checks for items such as, but not limited to:
• • Building fabric and external ground condition surveys
  • Fire compartment breaks, screens and doors
  • Inspection of anti-ligature systems (e.g. windows, furniture, blinds, bedrails and bathroom fittings)
• Install and/or assemble items such as, but not limited to:
• • Office furniture and accessories (Desks, notice boards, etc.)
  • Washroom accessories (Mirrors, grab rails, soap dispensers, etc.)
  • Wall impact protection/ hygiene cladding (corridors, clean rooms / showers)
• Respond to urgent reactive maintenance jobs such as, but not limited to:
• • Temporary repairs to damaged windows and doors
  • Roof leaks to a variety of roof types/systems and rainwater systems

Requirements

• Must have completed a formal apprenticeship as a carpenter/joiner.

AND

• Hold a relevant qualification at least at NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) together with a minimum of 3 years post apprenticeship experience.

AND

• Hold 'Competent Person' certified training in the following work areas:
• • Workshop Machinery
  • Operation of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs)

AND

• Working knowledge and experience of carrying out joinery and building maintenance repairs.
• Working knowledge and experience in the use of woodworking machinery and hand / power tools.
• Working knowledge and experience of undertaking tasks of other engineering trade groups.

Remuneration
c£29,970 per annum, plus discount benefits.
