Job summary

Bassetlaw District Council in Worksop is seeking a skilled Joiner to join its Repairs and Maintenance team. This hands-on role focuses on safe, high-quality workmanship across council housing properties.

You will install, repair and maintain doors, windows, kitchens, flooring and timber structures, while mentoring apprentices and supporting colleagues. A driving licence is required and you will participate in out-of-hours calls.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Joinery (or equivalent).
• Proven joinery repairs, maintenance and installation experience.
• Knowledge of doors, windows, kitchens, flooring and timber structures.
• Ability to interpret measurements and job instructions.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive a Council vehicle.

• Carry out joinery repairs across Council housing properties.

• Maintain fencing, gates, sheds and external timber structures.
• Diagnose faults and provide cost-effective repair solutions.

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Joiner to join our Repairs and Maintenance team, helping to keep our homes safe, secure and well maintained for our tenants. This is a hands‑on role where your skills will make a real difference to the lives of local people every day.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll carry out a wide range of joinery repairs, maintenance and improvement works across Council housing properties, including:

• Installing, repairing and replacing doors, windows, kitchens, flooring and timber fixtures.
• Maintaining fencing, gates, sheds and other external timber structures.
• Diagnosing faults and identifying practical, cost-effective repair solutions.
• Carrying out roofing repairs where appropriately trained.
• Managing your own workload and planning daily tasks efficiently.
• Using handheld technology to record work and maintain accurate records.
• Sharing your knowledge by supporting apprentices and colleagues.
• Taking part in the out-of-hours emergency call‑out rota.

You'll work closely with tenants, colleagues and contractors, providing a professional, friendly service while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, health and safety, and customer care.

• Proven experience carrying out joinery repairs, maintenance and installation work
• Experience fitting and repairing doors, windows, kitchens, flooring, fencing and other timber structures.
• Ability to diagnose defects and identify effective repair solutions.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Ability to accurately interpret measurements, work instructions and job documentation.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive a Council vehicle.
