Job summary

Bassetlaw District Council is seeking an experienced Joiner to join our Repairs and Maintenance team. You will perform hands-on joinery repairs and improvements across housing properties, contributing to safe and well-maintained homes for tenants in Nottingham and surrounding areas.

The role requires NVQ Level 2 in Joinery (or equivalent), proven joinery experience, and the ability to diagnose defects and provide cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience carrying out joinery repairs, maintenance and installation work.
• Experience fitting and repairing doors, windows, kitchens, flooring, fencing and other timber structures.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Joiner to join our Repairs and Maintenance team, helping to keep our homes safe, secure and well maintained for our tenants. This is a hands-on role where your skills will make a real difference to the lives of local people every day. What You'll Be Doing You'll carry out a wide range of joinery repairs, maintenance and improvement works across Council housing properties, including:

• Installing, repairing and replacing doors, windows, kitchens, flooring and timber fixtures.


• Maintaining fencing, gates, sheds and other external timber structures.


• Diagnosing faults and identifying practical, cost-effective repair solutions.


• Carrying out roofing repairs where appropriately trained.


• Managing your own workload and planning daily tasks efficiently.


• Using handheld technology to record work and maintain accurate records.


• Sharing your knowledge by supporting apprentices and colleagues.


• Taking part in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.

You’ll work closely with tenants, colleagues and contractors, providing a professional, friendly service while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, health and safety, and customer care. Essential Requirements

• NVQ Level 2 in Joinery (or an equivalent recognised trade qualification).


• Proven experience carrying out joinery repairs, maintenance and installation work


• Experience fitting and repairing doors, windows, kitchens, flooring, fencing and other timber structures.


• Ability to diagnose defects and identify effective repair solutions.


• Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.


• Ability to accurately interpret measurements, work instructions and job documentation.


• Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive a Council vehicle.
