Job summary

Apex Engineering Solutions is seeking a Joiner to join the Leeds/York area maintenance team on a hard FM contract. The role covers reactive repairs and PPMs across multiple disciplines, with travel along the LNER route and most nights at home.

You’ll join a small works team, operating mainly from Leeds/York Station, with on-call duties and ongoing training provided. The successful candidate will be time-served, qualified, and capable of delivering high-quality maintenance work.

Qualifications

• Time served joiner/fabric engineer with a maintenance background.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Background in mobile engineering/property maintenance.
• Strong competencies in building services trades.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid understanding of Health and Safety practices.
• Holder of a Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• To ensure all delegated Reactive Works orders and PPMs are completed within contract-defined SLA/KPIs.
• Keep Client, Customer and Team updated with feedback and regular updates.
• Deliver a high-quality service aiming for 100% customer satisfaction.
• Communicate daily with helpdesk/Supervisor regarding PPM and Reactive tasks.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policy.
• Keep site logbooks up to date.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Joiner on behalf of one of the UK’s leading building services companies.

Established over 40 years, their head office is based in London, and they also have several over offices across the nation. They are known for their services in M&E, FM, Design and Construction.

They are a well‑known company with hundreds of employees working for them. They work in a range of sectors including commercial, residential, health and transport.

This is working on a hard FM contract which carries out service and maintenance work to train stations down the East Coast from Edinburgh to Kings Cross. They are responsible for looking after all aspects of building maintenance including electrical, plumbing and building fabric.

This is a permanent position paying £34k – £36k per annum + Van & Fuel Card + Overtime + On call allowance + Pension + 21 days annual leave plus bank holidays etc. Ongoing training provided including PTS (personal trackside safety Sentinel card). The on call rota is 1 week in 5.

As the Joiner, you will have experience in a similar role, be competent, qualified in relevant trade, and able to deliver high‑quality maintenance and reactive repairs across multiple disciplines. You will be in the small works team based out of Leeds and York Station but covering the route of the LNER line. You will be home 95% of the time with rare overnight stays.
