Advertised Salary: £40,000 - £42,000+ benefits

Location: Site based - the successful applicant will be based at Stanley Ferry (Ferry Lane, Wakefield, Yorkshire WF3 4LZ) 5 days a week.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Workshop Supervisor (Manager) at Stanley Ferry, Wakefield. Reporting to the National Workshops Manager, you will oversee the team responsible for building, supplying, and repairing lock gates and parts, ensuring safety, heritage standards, and policies are met. The ideal candidate is organized, engaging, and committed to positive customer experience and safety standards.

Experience in Carpentry/Joinery production is advantageous but not essential.

Location & Working Hours

The role is based at Stanley Ferry, Ferry Lane, Wakefield, Yorkshire WF3 4LZ. Working hours are 07:30 - 16:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:30 - 12:30 on Fridays.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

The Supervisor will oversee workshop manufacturing and fabrication, managing up to 10 operatives, ensuring jobs are completed on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards. Responsibilities include managing workflows, materials, and liaising with teams, suppliers, and customers.

Key requirements include:

  • People management experience in manufacturing or production.
  • Practical experience in process planning or improvement.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety practices, with opportunities to gain a NEBOSH qualification.
  • Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD; CAD courses can be provided.
