Swansea City Council is seeking a Personal Assistant to support a private client in Swansea. The role focuses on companionship, enabling attendance at social events and helping with daily tasks, including shopping and meal preparation.
Hours range from 10 to 20 per week, primarily weekday evenings and weekend days. Driving licence is essential to facilitate travel, with mileage and expenses covered. DBS checks will be processed prior to start.
Please note this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who received direct payments.
A little about myself:
I am a 32-year-old female, living in Manselton, Swansea. I currently live alone in my first home. I am a chemistry graduate, and now work full-time in Swansea University, in data science. I really enjoy socialising, live music, eating out, going for long walks, travel, craft fairs, and many other things. I also volunteer at a young disabled drama group, and Llys Nini Animal Rescue Centre. But due to my epilepsy, I am unable to do these things without a companion. I aim to employ a personal assistant to enable me to go out more independently, and not only when friends and family are available. Also, to live more independently, by assisting me with hot meal preparation and weekly shopping. At present, I have absence and blackout type seizures.
Driver required to take me out.
Male / female – There is no preference.
As I currently work full time, the role would mainly be weekday evenings and Saturday/Sunday daytime, and possibly weekdays if annual leave was taken.
Hours will be flexible, ranging from 10-20 hours per week. This can be mutually agreed.
Any mileage and expenses would also be covered.
The main task is being my companion, as explained in the section about me. I would need somebody to take me to carry out my weekly shop.
Driving licence is therefore essential, as this offers more scope for travel.
A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
