Job summary

Gateshead Council is recruiting for two fixed-term roles focused on Connect to Work and supported employment. You will provide one-to-one job coaching, manage a caseload, and collaborate with employers to create opportunities while ensuring safeguarding and inclusive practices.

The roles involve developing plans, conducting job analysis, and delivering in-work support to help individuals move into sustained employment. Hybrid working is available with a focus on flexible, person-centred support.

Qualifications

• Level 4 Information, Advice & Guidance / Employability qualification (or willingness to work towards), plus knowledge of supported employment principles and the Local Supported Employment Quality Framework.
• Strong understanding of equality legislation and inclusive recruitment practices, ensuring fair opportunities for all.
• In-depth knowledge of learning disabilities and autism in relation to employment and awareness of local specialist support services.
• Sound knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and ability to apply this in practice.
• Understanding and application of systematic instruction to help individuals learn, develop and sustain workplace skills.
• Awareness of barriers to employment for disadvantaged groups and ability to tailor support accordingly.
• Proven experience delivering employment support, managing caseloads and building relationships with employers and partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one job coaching to economically inactive individuals to achieve employment goals.
• Engage, onboard and manage a caseload across the five stages of the supported employment model.
• Develop vocational profiles and action plans by identifying skills, experience, needs and networks.
• Carry out job analysis, job matching and employer engagement, including creating opportunities through job carving.
• Work with employers to offer specialist advice and support workplace inclusion and complete risk assessments.
• Deliver in-work support such as instruction, travel training, personal safety and skill development to build independence.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal services, partners and community organisations.
• Deliver outreach support across communities boroughwide.
• Ensure safeguarding policies are followed for vulnerable adults.
• Maintain accurate records in CRM systems in line with funding and quality frameworks.
• Carry out additional duties appropriate to the role.
