Job summary

Sotheby’s in London is seeking a Cataloguer to support the Jewelry department by cataloguing jewels and related materials for auctions and private sales. The role involves learning the cataloguing system, researching property, drafting footnotes, and assisting with online and printed catalogue production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• 2 years’ jewelry industry experience; auction house preferred.
• Graduate Gemologist degree from the GIA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Catalog objects and write catalogue descriptions with gemological terminology.
• Assist with online and printed catalogue production and photography.
• Coordinate deadlines with department and external suppliers.
• Support sale-related activities including valuations and consignments.
• Develop business contacts and opportunities.
• Obtain export documents and certificates as required.
• Assist with pre- and post-sale marketing and press write-ups.
