Job summary

Dawsons Auctioneers, based at our Maidenhead office, is seeking a motivated Jewellery Valuer to join our expert team. You will value jewellery, watches and silver, meet clients in person, negotiate consignments and provide accurate valuation advice within a modern, technology-led auction environment.

You will join a growing business with opportunities to develop specialist expertise, join a friendly team and contribute to Dawsons' continued success in the luxury valuations space.

Qualifications

• Specialist knowledge of jewellery, watches and/or silver.
• FGA, DGA, GIA or equivalent professional qualifications, or 5+ years’ experience within jewellery, luxury, valuation, auction or pawnbroking sectors.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
• Confident negotiation with clients in a professional/commercial manner.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and stay calm under pressure.
• Strong time-management and organisational skills.
• Flexible, positive and team-focused approach.
• Good IT competence and willingness to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day running of Dawsons Berkshire operation.
• Report to the Joint Heads of Jewellery, Watches & Silver.
• Meet, advise and negotiate with clients in person, by telephone and online.
• Consign jewellery, watches and silver for sale through Dawsons auctions.
• Carry out accurate valuations for auction, probate and insurance purposes.
• Attend offsite valuation appointments and house visits when required.
• Handle valuable items with care, discretion and professionalism.
• Enter stock and valuation details into Dawsons’ auction systems.
• Work closely with our team of valuers and cataloguers.
• Occasionally travel to Hampstead office when required.
